Frequently Asked Questions About PulseWave Philadelphia
What is GAINSWave® Treatment?
GAINSWave® ED treatments at our ED clinic are simple, quick, painless, and drug-free. The ED doctors at PulseWave Philadelphia use a wand to deliver low-intensity sound waves to the shaft and base of the penis. The sound waves help to reopen dormant blood vessels in the penis and stimulate the growth of new blood vessels. This FDA-cleared erectile dysfunction treatment has been used successfully in Europe for 10 years, helping men to achieve stronger erections that last longer, with no side effects.
GAINSWave® is a medical device that was cleared by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for soft tissue repair and enhanced blood flow using low-intensity acoustic waves. The use of acoustic waves on the human body has a long history that includes treating the kidneys, pain therapy, ischemic heart disease, and many more. The GAINSWave® device is a precision instrument that is capable of focusing the waves to a resolution of under one millimeter – the resolution necessary for treating erectile tissue.
The acoustic waves promote neovascularization (growth of new blood cells) and “wakes up” stem cells and growth factors in the erectile tissues. The GAINSWave® procedure ATTACKS THE ROOT OF THE PROBLEM, NOT THE SYMPTOMS. The result is stronger, more natural, longer-lasting erections.
Am I a candidate for treatment ?
If you suffer from vascular erectile dysfunction, you are likely to benefit from the GAINSWave® acoustic therapy. The treatment is especially beneficial for men who are experiencing negative side effects from ED drugs or have not responded to such drugs. Whether your ED is mild or severe, the treatment is highly likely to help.
Additionally, some men have found the GAINSWave® treatment to enhance sexual performance, decrease recovery time, and increase the firmness and sensation of erections.
The GAINSWave® therapy has also proved effective in breaking down the scar tissue and reducing the curvature of the penis typical of Peyronie’s Disease.
What is the treatment like ?
The treatment is an outpatient procedure that is very quick and easy. Each session is only about 15 minutes long. An applicator is used to apply sound waves to the penis shaft and base in small circular motions. The treatment is not painful but sensitive patients can elect to apply a numbing cream. Most patients report improvement after the first couple of sessions! However, each patient is different, and our doctors will custom tailor a protocol for you with the optimal number of sessions.
Is it safe ?
The GAINSWave® acoustic wave therapy is THE SAFEST treatment for ED! It is non-invasive and uses no drugs, needles, or surgery. It is cleared by the FDA and has been used in Europe for nearly 10 years. It is so safe that it is also being used to treat cardiac disease and promote neovascularization in the heart!
For what age group is the treatment effective?
The treatment can be used for any age group. We have treated men in their thirties as well as men in their eighties and nineties. The GAINSWave® procedure can help men improve their performance and recovery time and it can allow men as old as ninety to perform as they did in their more virile years.
Does it work?
Absolutely! Acoustic Wave Therapy was officially accepted by the European Association of Urology as the GOLD STANDARD for treatment of Erectile Dysfunction in the EAU 2013 guidelines on male sexual dysfunction. The technology is now approved by the FDA and is considered a revolutionary treatment of ED backed by an enormous volume of clinical research! Please see our Research page for more details.
